Trying to steal my future career are ya? xD

Well, I first learnt VB.NET.
Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/#2008-Visual-Basic
(go to the 2008 tab thing)
I had first learnt using the 2005 IDE (you cannot get that now), the 2008 one is better.
I think it looks like the 2010 one is out, so I'll have to try that out.

It is self teachable, and pretty easy - just not the best for full on game making, but is still good to start of with.

Or what you could do is go straight into C# and use the XNA Framework. C# is kind of a cross between VB.NET and C++, so it's slightly more complicated and harder to learn than VB.NET, but you could do some of the XNA tutorials and that should help get you started.
C# is faster to code though...but VB.NET is easier, but still quite powerful.

Feel free to ask more questions....

Yeah, and Java and C++ would take longer to learn if it is your first language....I haven't gotten back to continue learning C++ - in january I read 1/2 of a c++ book but haven't gotten back to read the other half xD

vb6 is old, vb10 was released on the 12th of april Razz
And Troy would have to torrent vb6... that being said *cough* I might *cough* have *cough*

You could try this, and see if your school is on it or something : https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx
Then you could get Visual Studio 2008 or 2010 for free instead of getting the express edition Wink

I downloaded the 2010 express edition last night - my computer doesn't meet the requirements so there is some noticeable lag...

I still say VB6, everything after 6.0 is crap.
And you don't have to torrent it, you can buy it for like 5 bucks at computer stores Razz

Dont really wanna spend money. ive almost got the payout amount on Kongregate too... a fresh $20 in my pocket Very Happy

im not a fast learner in fact it will take me hours of looking at a single video/book on a language to get ANYTHING about it study

Ive been thinking Flash... (i think the language is known as ActionScript)

I plan to make Flash games eventually anyway, so is ActionScript a hard one to learn?

Flash is not to bad.
Only downside is you gotta make thousand(s) of frames to make flash games.

Well, two years ago in ICT we were ment to use Game maker, but that only worked on 3 computers in my class (yep, my school sucks) so I used Flash instead...I made this simple game where you we are ball and had to navigate the maze thing collecting these coin things, it wasn't hard to do. It was very simple graphics wise, it was just one frame per level because there were no animated graphics xD

My game is relatively easy its a choice game...

You choose a choice maybe a yes or no one and by picking the wrong one you go back to start of game.

Would this be hard at all?
(sounds simple imo)

Would be simple, when I used flash 8, it had help commands.

Like it can show you what can be used, ect.
Plus there are tons of tutorials on youtube.
