and the thing i dont like about password changing is that if someone gets hold of your password then they can change it

And Kris. If someone gets my password, regardless of 'hacker' being able to change my password, my characters could still be gone, or my items. That's when server back ups come in lol. A password change would actually be better, if I know someone is on my account, and no mods are on, I change it quickly.

Password changes + secret question + Birthday would make it safer.

And of course(if possible) have it check the users IP.
If it's not the same, have it ask questions, are they can't login.

All in all, it's a grand idea.

1 Problem is IP's can change alot(Mine changes alot during the winter due to power outages & comcast likes to update then..).

I say you should have an option to IP lock. Check (and the current IP will be used) or uncheck and no ip will be used. If you screw up and your IP changes, you could ask mods to remove it.
